Inlays & Onlays
This is a porcelain filling which is very strong, especially for molars and premolars. Inlays and Onlays are often used when there is loss of tooth structure to support a filling, but the tooth does not require a crown.
How does it work?
Decay and/or existing filling material is removed, followed by a scan of the prepared tooth. This scan then gets sent to our machine and with CAD/CAM technology (Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing), the inlay/onlay is sculpted from a full porcelain block.
Inlays/Onlays hold the tooth together and are different from normal fillings in that they are made from a full porcelain block. These fine custom made pieces of porcelain fit into and onto the tooth.
