Bridges

Are you missing a tooth and have two adjacent healthy teeth? A bridge is a viable option to replace a tooth for functional and aesthetic reasons.

How bridges are made:

Bridges are often made by the dental laboratory however some can be done on the same day by our CAD/CAM technology (Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing) depending on the case. Bridges made from the lab are done over two appointments. The first appointment entails preparing the adjacent teeth, taking impressions and making a temporary bridge which covers and protects the teeth until the bridge is manufactured by the lab.

Bridges done on the same day from our CAD/CAM technology are often useful when a visible tooth in the smile line is extracted and immediate coverage of this area is needed. The patient often has this in for about 2-3 months until a permanent bridge can be made. The use of this bridge can be for many months or years and is also a cost effective way to replace a gap post extraction or when there has been a gap for a long time.

Replacements of gaps should always be given attention to as this will result in drifting of the adjacent teeth and over-eruption of the opposing teeth. The opposing tooth may over-erupt to such a point where it may need to be extracted.
